Ashley Furniture Industries Inc. said Friday it is buying a 260,000-square-foot building in Ripley, Miss., to make up, at least in the short term, for construction delays that have put at a Davie County production facility at least a year behind schedule.

Todd Wanek, Ashley’s president and chief executive, said in a statement that the new Mississippi facility will serve as a support center for three plants in that state. He said the building has space for expansion if needed.
