Sales of foreclosed homes in North Carolina rose 34.2 percent to 4,260 in the first quarter compared with the first quarter of 2012, RealtyTrac Inc. said Thursday. Sales, however, were down 6.2 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2012.
The Winston-Salem metropolitan statistical area had 347 foreclosure sales in the first quarter of 2013, up 62 percent from a year ago and up 10.9 percent from the fourth quarter. The MSA consists of Davie, Forsyth, Stokes and Yadkin counties. Davidson County was added to the Winston-Salem MSA in February, but its foreclosure sales have not been added to the RealtyTrac data.
