About 7,500 people attended the Salute! wine festival on Saturday. That’s a drop from the 8,000 to 8,500 people that the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership estimated were at the event last year, but organizers are still ecstatic about this year’s turnout at Salute! The North Carolina Wine Celebration.
“Last year was a very busy year and that might have been stretching capacity,” said Jason Thiel, the president of the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership. “This year we hit the perfect mark with attendance. When you get so many people, it can get a little crowded.”
