Three of North Carolina’s most productive nonprofit economic groups are bracing for a sharp blow from Gov. Pat McCrory’s state budget ax.

The groups – Golden Leaf Foundation ($65 million), N.C. Biotechnology Center ($10 million) and N.C. Rural Development Center ($10 million) – have a combined $85 million in annual funding targeted for transfer to the state’s General Fund.
